About the Crucible and Lyceum Theatres:
The Lyceum and crucible theatres are located in the same square within Sheffield city centre.
In 2001 the Crucible was awarded the Barclays ‘Theatre of the Year’ Award and is a Grade II listed building. Between 2007 – November 2009 the building had a £15 million refurbishment. The theatre continues to hold the annual World Snooker Championchip
The Lyceum is the only surviving theatre outside of London designed by the famous theatre architect W G R Sprague.
The theatres present a variety of theatre, including touring West End productions, opera, ballet and contemporary dance, as well as locally produced shows.
